irregular menses and thyroid hormone

menses and thyroid hormone
both hypo and hyperthyroidism case irregular menses.but how?
hypothyroidism
  • thyroid hormone is anti prolactin effect.
  • low thyroid hormone will increase the prolactin secretion.
  • the high prolactin will inhibit release of FSH and LH by the anterior pituitary gland.
  • This will cause no follicular cell development and lead to irregular menstrual cycle

hyperthyroidism

  • increase thyroid hormone will alter the androgen metabolism.
  • this will increase conversation of androgen to estrogen
  • high estrogen level will inhibit secretion of FSH and LH
  • lead to irregular menstrual cycle

different explaination but same result!
